Continuous & Comprehensive Evaluation
What is Continuous & Comprehensive Evaluation? (CCE)
Continuous & Comprehensive Evaluation refers to a system of school based assessment that covers all aspects of student's development.
It emphasizes on two fold objectives:-
- Continuity in Evaluation & Assessment of broad based learning.
- It evaluates behavioural outcome.
Continuous - Continual from the beginning and throughout the instructional process.
Comprehensive - Scholastic - Subject Specific areas
Co-scholastic - Life skills, attitude & values and other co-curricular areas. It includes a variety of tools and techniques for the holistic assessment of learners.

Formative Assessment
Assessment which is carried throughout the year by a teacher formally & informally. It is diagnostic & remedial. It comprises of:-
1. Class work 2. Homework 3. Oral questions and interviews 4. Quizzes - Conversation Projects // Assignments // Tests.
Summative Assessment
It is the assessment carried out at the end of a course of instruction. It indicates and measures how much a student has learnt.
What are Life Skills?
Life Skills are the abilities the students need to develop that will help them to be successful in living a productive and successful life. Some of these qualities include
- Self esteem 2. Communication 3.Confidence 4.Compassion 5.Respect 6. Empathy and Creative thinking
What are Attitudes and values?
Attitudes reflect an individual's disposition or tendency to respond to a given stimulus (ideas, situation)
Values are ideas and beliefs that one holds as special
The main arms of CCE as envisaged by the CBSE are:-
- Removes stress on children by reducing the chances of subjectivity and de-emphasising memorisation. Encourage scholastic and co-scholastic aspects of learning.
- Regular and comprehensive evaluation during instructional periods making it an integral part of learning process.
- A right tool of diagnosis and remedial work.
- Implant greater skills in learners.
- Award grades in place of marks on the basis of students ability and performances.
Students are assessed according to the following grades.
